Available defences include: alibi (the accused was elsewhere), private defence under Sections 96–106 PPC, challenging the credibility of eyewitnesses, exposing gaps in forensic evidence, arguing that the prosecution has not proved guilt beyond reasonable doubt, and — where appropriate — negotiating Diyat with the victim's heirs. Every case requires a tailored approach.
Diyat is blood money paid to the heirs of the victim in lieu of Qisas (retaliation). If the heirs accept Diyat and forgive the accused, the Qisas obligation is extinguished. The state may still prosecute under Tazir, but courts typically impose significantly lighter sentences where the family has forgiven. We facilitate Diyat negotiations sensitively and professionally.

We also examine whether fresh evidence has emerged, whether there were procedural errors at trial and whether the lower court misread the evidence.
