NADRA Online Power of Attorney: Step-by-Step Guide

Who can use NADRA's online power of attorney?

Pakistani citizens abroad who hold a valid CNIC, NICOP or POC. Your attorney in Pakistan and two witnesses also need valid Pakistani identity documents. Foreign nationals — including dual nationals using only their foreign passport — must have the document attested by their own country's foreign ministry and then visit the Pakistani mission in person.

How do I apply step by step?

   Get the document drafted

   Have the power of attorney drafted for your exact purpose. The online system attests your signature; it does not fix wording that a sub-registrar or court will reject.

   Create your account

   Register at poa.nadra.gov.pk with your email, phone number and overseas address, and verify by OTP.

   Enter your attorney's and witnesses' details

   Add the CNIC/NICOP details of your attorney and two witnesses, and select the mission that covers where you live.

   Upload the signed document

   Upload a scanned copy of the signed power of attorney.

5. 5

   Give biometrics and pay

   You and your witnesses submit fingerprints, and you pay the mission's fee by card.

   Attend the video interview

   A consular officer interviews you by video and approves or rejects the application.

7. 7

   Receive and send the approval

   After approval and NADRA's final consent, you receive the attested document or approval to send to your attorney.

What happens after approval?

For property sales, gifts and transfers in Karachi, the power of attorney is usually registered with the sub-registrar before your attorney can act. UK missions note that a power of attorney attested abroad must be registered in Pakistan within four months, and MOFA states a validity of 120 days after attestation and re-verification. Plan the Karachi step before you apply so the document doesn't lapse.
