Khula, talaq and contested divorce handled with speed, sensitivity and total confidentiality.
Compassionate, Effective Divorce Representation
Divorce is one of life's most difficult experiences. At [Your Firm], we combine legal expertise with genuine sensitivity, guiding you through every stage of the process as efficiently as possible while protecting your rights and dignity throughout.
Khula — Divorce Initiated by the Wife
Khula is the right of a wife to obtain a divorce through the Family Court without requiring the husband's consent. Under the Family Courts Ordinance 1964, a court can grant khula even if the husband objects. The wife typically returns the mehr (dower), though this requirement may be waived if the divorce is attributable to the husband's fault. A straightforward khula typically concludes in 3–6 months.
Talaq — Divorce by the Husband
Under the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance 1961, a husband who pronounces talaq must provide written notice to the Union Council. A 90-day reconciliation period follows, after which the divorce becomes effective. We manage the entire Union Council procedure and obtain the NADRA divorce certificate.
Contested Divorce
Where parties disagree on the grounds or circumstances of divorce, we represent your interests robustly in Family Court hearings, managing evidence, witnesses and legal arguments to achieve the best outcome.
Overseas Divorce Recognition
Foreign divorces obtained outside Pakistan require recognition proceedings in Pakistani courts to be effective here — particularly where Pakistani property, children or future marriage registration is involved. We handle overseas divorce recognition cases for clients worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Talaq is divorce initiated by the husband. Khula is divorce initiated by the wife through the Family Court — the husband's consent is not required. If your husband is uncooperative or refusing to grant a divorce, khula is your best route. In khula the wife generally returns the mehr, but where the husband is at fault the court may waive this.
