Sindh government employees challenge termination, promotion and pension decisions by filing a departmental appeal within 30 days, then an appeal before the Sindh Service Tribunal under section 4 of the Sindh Service Tribunals Act, 1973.

Which forum

• Sindh civil servants — departmental appeal first, then the Sindh Service Tribunal.

Time limits

1. Departmental appeal — within 30 days (Rule 3, Sindh Civil Servants (Appeal) Rules, 1980).
2. Service Tribunal — within 30 days of the decision on the departmental appeal; or, if the appeal is not decided within 90 days, the Tribunal can be approached then (section 4, Sindh Service Tribunals Act, 1973).

The Tribunal has the powers of a civil court, including interim relief.
